Intel Challenge 2010

The Intel® Challenge Europe is a regional business plan for university students. In collaboration with prestigious education institutions and entrepreneurship organizations across Europe, Intel is excited to launch the Intel® Challenge Europe this year.
The goal of Intel® Challenge Europe is to contribute to the entrepreneurial movement and help generate interest and development of technological projects with the potential to become major business opportunities. By advancing technology entrepreneurship, Intel® Challenge Europe can support projects that can create value-added production chains and result in job creation.
The winners of this regional competition will be invited to participate in the final round of the competition at the Intel®+Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge (IBTEC) in November this year at the University of California at Berkeley.
Intel® Challenge Europe is organized with the support of YouNoodle, a California-based company that provides a technology platform used by leading entrepreneurship clubs and university competitions worldwide.

HOW TO WIN

Submissions for Intel® Challenge Europe can be entered via Web from May 25 to July 1. During the months of July and August, teams will go through stages of evaluation in each country. Winners will be announced at the end of September. The executive summary should be between 1-3 pages.
Intel® Challenge Europe will be evaluated in each country with the participation of highly qualified judges in various fields, including academics, entrepreneurship, and technology experts.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
- We accept projects where participating students or recent graduates of any level of formal academic study (bachelor, bachelor’s degree or graduate), at least one team member must comply with this requirement. Scholars can participate and support the team.
- All team participants must be adults under the laws of the country of origin of participants.
- Projects must be in working prototype stage.
- The projects must have a business plan in English.
Proposals should be directed to the development of technologies that may include, but are not limited to the areas of wireless computing, digital home, enterprise and consumer software, energy, nanotechnology, semiconductors, digital health and biotechnology.

PRIZES

Four prizes are awarded at the regional level:
Eastern Europe
First Place: $20,000 USD*
Second Place: $10,000 USD*
Western Europe
First Place: $20,000 USD*
Second Place: $10,000 USD*
* The amount of the awards does not include tax.
There will be two winning teams from Eastern Europe and two winning teams from Western Europe. The four winning projects will participate in the Intel®+UC Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge (IBTEC) to be held in November 2010 in Silicon Valley, with covered travel costs for three people per team. IBTEC is a global business plan competition that brings together some of the best technology projects and talented entrepreneurs in the world. Winners will have a full itinerary of visits with Silicon Valley’s most recognized startups and meetings with investors and contacts int he sector relevant to the projects submitted.
The winners from each country will receive official recognition and local media exposure.
All finalists will enjoy an online education program that will train them with the necessary elements to launch their ventures. Webinars will be available on a variety of entrepreneurship topics, including how to write an executive summary and a winning business plan, how to present and pitch to investors, intellectual property issues and financial projections.
In addition, a mentoring program with U.S. mentors is made available to each semi-finalist team. These connections coupled with the numerous contacts, media exposure and feedback made possible by the competition, will contribute to the success of your venture.
