Senior/Advisory Software QA Engineer

Job description:

In the testing role one will test IBM’s software and find important defects. The candidate will develop an understanding of how IBM customers use their software and make sure future versions meet customer needs. It will be realized that one cannot test quality into a product and hence the candidate will be a driver for improvement in software development processes. The candidate will be using tools to automate repetitive tasks whenever possible to increase productivity. The candidate will be required to develop expertise in using IBM software.

Also in this role, the candidate will lead testing projects; along with mentoring & guiding teams involved in software testing projects. As a hands-on member, the candidate will also be required to perform testing tasks. There are opportunities for project management in this role depending on aptitude and interest.

Requirements

• At least three years’ experience in software or IT
• Proven experience in software testing – find important defects
• Experience creating test plans and testing scope
• Strong experience with defect tracking tools
• Experience creating test designs and detailed test cases
• Understanding of software QA processes – team roles, phases, exit criteria, reviews, inspections
• Exposure to software metrics
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• Fluency in English

Good to have

• Experience with project management of software testing – weekly schedules, milestones, resource management
• Experience interacting with software engineers, project managers, documentation writers.
• Experience with globalization testing
• Experience with test automation, performance testing, security testing

Software QA Engineer

Job description

In the testing role one will test IBM’s software and find important defects. The candidate will develop an understanding of how IBM customers use their software and make sure future versions meet customer needs. It will be realized that one cannot test quality into a product and hence the candidate will be a driver for improvement in software development processes. The candidate will be using tools to automate repetitive tasks whenever possible to increase productivity. The candidate will be required to develop expertise in using IBM software.

The candidate will be required to test IBM software on various environment and configurations. Also, the candidate will be an active part of teams involved in testing new features in software. The candidate will also be involved in the entire software development cycle from the start through the final release, influencing requirements.

Requirements

• Experience in software testing.
• Must be able to find important defects in software.
• Ability to learn and understand complex software technology
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Good communication skills and fluency in English

Good to have

• Exposure to a structured software development environment
• Experience with security software, RFID or other authentication devices, client server software, RDBMS, internet software
• Experience with testing multiple releases of commercial software
• Software development or scripting experience

Software Test Automation Engineer

Job description

In the testing role one will test IBM’s software and find important defects. The candidate will be using tools to automate repetitive tasks whenever possible to increase productivity. The candidate will be required to develop expertise in using IBM software.

In this role, the candidate will create scripts using Rational Functional Tester to test software. The scripts will need to automate complex environments. Although this is a testing position, there will be a strong focus on software engineering and programming skills.

Requirements

• Prior experience creating test automation scripts using industry standard tools such as Winrunner, Silktest or Rational Functional Tester. Experience with scripting languages VB, VBSCRIPT, Javascript, Python, Ruby is also of interest
• Understanding of programming and software engineering concepts
• Ability to create complex programs to solve computing problems
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• Good communication skills and fluency in English

Good to have

• Prior experience with manual testing; ability to find important defects
• Experience with programming, especially Java
• Exposure to object oriented design
• Experience creating a test automation framework
• Experience with Rational Robot or Rational Functional Tester is a strong plus
